The Institute of Materials from a Student's Perspective
The Institute of Materials has long since surpassed the necessary critical mass and enjoys national and international influence. Trips abroad to stay with our international partners are usually arranged quickly and unbureaucratically. In spite of its reputation and influence, the Institute for Materials is not an exceeding large or impersonal place. You will enjoy the friendly atmosphere, excellent working conditions and the support you will receive. In most cases, you will be involved in the work of the Institute as an assistant scientist (student assistant, or HiWi as we say in German). Interesting excursions are organised by both the Chair and the Institute and we stage Christmas parties together, which have proven to be most popular. We also have a Institute band, which is primarily run and supported by our students. The Institute for Materials also fields a successful football team.
